As of January 1, 2023, Jeanette Abuja has assumed the role of CHRO at Kulzer. In an interview, she explains what experiences have shaped her, which values guide her, and what motivates her.
You are an economist by education and spent most of your working life in HR. Which experiences shaped you and the way you work?
I have been working in HR for about 20 years and have spent three years outside of HR, in Continuous Improvement. HR is what I love doing, because I firmly believe that I can bring heart and mind together in a special way here. However, my time in Continuous Improvement has given me a great education on lean and efficiency that also helps me improve processes and results in a structured way. In a nutshell: the time in Continuous Improvement gave me a special imprint that I have integrated into what I am thinking and the way of working as Leader in HR.
After nearly three months at Kulzer: What is your impression and why do you appreciate the company?
Having worked in chemical companies in other industries, it is now a wonderful opportunity for me to work in a renowned global dental company. Kulzer is a future-proof company that uses state-of-the-art ways of working and supports new ideas. The open and appreciative interaction with each other at Kulzer is special for me. I was welcomed and introduced very warmly so I really feel I can involve myself with all my experience. I see the chemical industry – in healthcare and other areas – as an engine for innovation. In Germany in particular, I see the industry as standing for social partnership, visionary innovation, and sustainable performance.
I want to contribute to our mutual success and aim to get a bit better every day. This is how I work, and this corresponds perfectly with our lean management at Kulzer. I believe that people make the difference and that together we achieve more. And I see that this reflects in our core values “Challenge. Diversity. One team.” So: I can identify easily and deeply with the values that drive Kulzer.
How do you prefer spending your leisure time?
I love being outside, I enjoy outdoor activities and I am passionate about nature and animals. Spending my time with family, friends or my horse is important to me and is what balances me.
What is your appeal to candidates why they should apply at Kulzer?
If you want to make a difference, are looking for a meaningful job as well as for a modern work environment and if you can identify with our core values of Challenge, Diversity, and One Team, then Kulzer is the place for you. Here, you will contribute to a great team that is passionate about oral health and strives every day to help improve the health and well-being of patients. And it is fun doing this meaningful work. In recruiting, we use the claim "Creating smiles is teamwork" – and that's exactly how we see it.
